Tutu the cat is looking for a new home in the Toronto area

Tutu is an 8-year-old girl with a big personality, a soft heart, and a very clear opinion about personal space. She is a sweet, playful lady who enjoys attention on her terms – and honestly, we respect a girl who knows what she likes!

Tutu initially found shelter life pretty overwhelming and showed a high level of fear, anxiety, and stress, particularly in a busy or noisy environment. She has made good progress and is now much more settled. She has been seen rubbing on people’s legs, enjoying gentle head pets, and being playful and calm when she feels comfortable. She may even come out to greet you with a little tail swish and a gentle rub.

Tutu is particularly sensitive to noise and a busy environment. When her surroundings became more vocal and active, she was observed hiding more. A quiet, predictable home will give her the best chance to show her true personality.

Tutu needs more than the average decompression time when entering a new home. Think of her as a little lady who needs to unpack her emotional suitcase before she’s ready to socialize. During those first days – and potentially longer – she should be allowed to settle at her own pace. If interaction is forced before she’s ready, she may give a warning- her polite-but-firm way of saying, “Not quite yet, thank you!”

Once comfortable, Tutu can be playful, affectionate and enjoy gentle head pets and rubbing against her people. She does best with a quiet, predictable home, patient humans, and plenty of breaks.

Tutu isn’t looking for someone to rush her into being a lap cat. She’s looking for someone willing to let the friendship develop at her pace – and she’s got plenty of personality waiting to come out!
