Wiz Khalifa says his 2015 hit song “See You Again” has earned him enough money to secure his future.

The American rapper made the remarks during a recent livestream on Kick with content creator DeenTheGreat, while discussing which of his songs had made him the most money.

When asked about his biggest earner, Khalifa quickly named “See You Again”, his emotional collaboration with singer Charlie Puth.

“‘See You Again.’ Not too many artists get the opportunity to have that big of a song in their career. Like, I’ma always be good because of that song,” Khalifa said.

He also described the track as “one of the most popular songs ever”, saying its global appeal allows him to perform it for audiences regardless of the language they speak.

“I could perform it anywhere in the world, no matter what language people speak. So, ‘See You Again’ is definitely a blessing,” he said.

Released in 2015, “See You Again” was recorded for Furious 7, the seventh film in the Fast & Furious franchise, as a tribute to actor Paul Walker, who played Brian O’Conner.

Walker died in a car crash in November 2013 while the film was still in production, deeply affecting the cast, crew and fans.

In Furious 7, Walker’s character receives an emotional farewell as he leaves his life of danger behind to focus on his family.

Puth wrote the song’s chorus after reflecting on Walker’s death and the loss of a close friend who had also died in a car crash.

Speaking to the Associated Press in 2015, Puth said: “Paul Walker’s incident was devastating, so I thought about Paul and my friend. I sat down at the piano, played those chords and those words just fell out of me.”

Khalifa added the rap verses, focusing on friendship, family and remembering loved ones. He said he wanted the song to celebrate life rather than dwell only on grief, according to Complex.

“It’s such a meaningful song, so I tried to put all those things together,” he said at the time. “Charlie’s vocals are amazing, so it all came together and made sense.”

“See You Again” became a worldwide hit, reaching number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and spending 12 non-consecutive weeks at the top of the chart.

Its music video featured scenes of Walker from the Fast & Furious films and became a tribute to the actor and his friendship with his co-stars.

It currently holds 7 billion views on YouTube.
