Gombe CP Decorates Area Commander with DCP


The Commissioner of Police in Gombe State, Umar Chuso, has decorated the Area Commander, Gombe Metropolis, Suur Chafa, with his new rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police.

The decoration ceremony, held at the Gombe State Police Command Headquarters on Monday, was attended by family members, government officials, members of the Police Community Relations Committee, and leaders of the Tiv community in Gombe State.

In recognition of his professionalism and meritorious service, the Gombe State chapter of the Police Community Relations Committee presented Chafa with an Award of Excellence.

Speaking at the event, Chuso congratulated the newly promoted officer and charged him to remain committed to the ideals of the Nigeria Police Force.

He said, “Your promotion is a recognition of your professionalism, dedication to duty, discipline, and commitment to the policing mandate.

“I urge you to sustain these qualities and continue to serve the people and the Nigeria Police Force with distinction.”

Also speaking, the President of the Tiv community in Gombe State commended the Nigeria Police Force for recognising Chafa’s contributions through the promotion.

He said, “We congratulate DCP Suur Chafa on this well-deserved promotion and appreciate the Gombe State Police Command for maintaining a cordial relationship with the Tiv community and other stakeholders.”

Responding, the newly decorated Deputy Commissioner of Police expressed gratitude to the Commissioner of Police and members of the Command Management Team for their support throughout his career.

“I sincerely appreciate the Commissioner of Police for his confidence in me and for providing an enabling environment for officers to discharge their duties professionally.

“I also thank the Command Management Team for their guidance, the Divisional Police Officers under my area command for their cooperation and dedication, and all stakeholders for their prayers, goodwill, and unwavering support,” Chafa said.
