Jorts, jerseys and sneakers: Safari Sevens fans bring fashion game to Nyayo Stadium [Photos /Courtesy]
On one side, low-rise jorts, a cropped Kenyan rugby jersey, gold jewellery, sneakers, sunglasses and a baseball cap, finished off with a whistle.
A few steps further, a mini skirt. This time, paired with a football jersey, black bandana, oversized sunglasses and stacks of bangles and rings.
These were the scenes at the Nyayo Stadium during the recently held Safari Sevens.

Here, what fans wore to the pitch was almost as eye-catching as the action itself.
The annual rugby tournament brought together an eclectic mix of sportswear and street style, with spectators putting their own spin on jerseys, denim, shorts and accessories.
While some stuck to comfortable match-day outfits, others clearly took the opportunity to experiment with their looks.
Jerseys were a common sight, with Kenyan colours featuring prominently in a variety of styles. Some fans wore theirs as they came, while others cropped, tucked or layered them, pairing the shirts with everything from denim shorts to miniskirts.
The result was a mix of sporting pride and personal style, with no two outfits quite alike.
Sneakers were another fixture, complementing the relaxed dressing that dominated the stands.
Biker shorts, booty shorts, skorts, miniskirts and flared gym pants also featured prominently among the women, often paired with oversized shirts, cropped tops, sports bras and jerseys.
Among the men, cargo pants, denim in both fitted and baggy cuts, and shorts were popular choices.

Baseball caps and bandanas added a streetwear touch, while sunglasses and jewellery helped individualise otherwise familiar looks.
Accessories also played a significant role. Layered necklaces, bangles, rings and carefully chosen colour combinations gave some outfits a more deliberate finish, showing how simple sportswear could be styled into something more distinctive.
Comfort, however, remained central to the dressing. With spectators spending hours at the stadium, the combination of sneakers, shorts and loose-fitting tops offered a practical option without limiting room for personal expression.

There was also no single formula for getting the look right. Some fans opted for understated outfits, while others embraced bold combinations and statement accessories. High-street pieces sat alongside more distinctive fashion choices, with the rugby jersey often serving as the starting point.
The mix brought to the fore how sportswear has easily become part of everyday dressing, extending beyond the pitch and into street fashion.

Jerseys, once largely associated with supporting a team, are increasingly styled with everyday clothing to create looks that are as much about individual taste as they are about sporting allegiance.
