Sarah Mtalii, Simon Kabu clash live on radio over separation, alleged unpaid salaries

Sarah Mtalii and her estranged husband Simon Kabu had a tense live on-air exchange on Radio Jambo’s Massawe Japanni show.

The clash came after a blogger shared claims from former employees that Sarah had not paid salaries and was “living beyond her means.”

During the studio interview, Sarah firmly denied the unpaid-salary allegations. She said she had paid all staff and even offered to show receipts as proof.

Simon then called into the program. He challenged Sarah’s version, saying he could also bring evidence about unpaid workers.

He told Sarah to stop fighting in public, settle any business issues, and move on. “Ulitaka tuachane tukaachana, sasa wewe move on”, he said.

Sarah used the interview to stress that they have been separated for more than two years and are waiting for a final divorce decree.

She also announced her personal rebrand and asked fans and the media to stop adding “Kabu” to her name. She now goes by Sarah Mtalii.

Sarah and Simon first met in 2007 in an online Google group where people discussed politics, jobs, and other topics.

Their bond grew during a group trip to Lukenya Hills. That shared love of travel led them to start organizing excursions, which later became Bonfire Adventures, one of Kenya’s best-known travel firms.

After about a year and a half of dating, they married at Lake Naivasha Country Club. They later had children and became a high-profile business couple.

Sarah has said she emotionally left the marriage in early 2022 after years of pretending to be happy.

She revealed that problems began around the fourth year of their marriage, when she was pregnant with their son.

The couple’s split became public in late 2024, followed by legal battles, including a defamation case Simon won in mid-2025.

Even after separating, Sarah and Simon continued working together at Bonfire Adventures.

In recent interviews, Sarah has spoken about selling her shares and noted that Simon started a competing travel company.
