Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have been granted 21 days to complete investigations into the death of a 19-year-old man whose body was recovered from the back seat of a Toyota Succeed.

In an application filed by the investigating officer based at the Starehe DCI office, police said a heated argument on a busy Eastleigh street ended in tragedy after the man, identified only as Zakaria, allegedly collapsed following a blow from a blunt object.

On the evening of September 15, the normal bustle along 11th Street, near Sultan Tower, was disrupted by a violent altercation.

According to a police report filed at Eastleigh North Police Station, an argument broke out between Zakaria and another man who has yet to be arrested.

During the confrontation, Zakaria was allegedly struck with a blunt object and collapsed almost immediately.

Good Samaritans rushed him to Nairobi East Hospital, but he was pronounced dead on arrival. His body was later recovered by police from the back seat of a Toyota Succeed and taken to the City Mortuary.

Detectives have since linked Ifrah to the fatal assault, although her exact role remains unclear. She was arrested shortly after the incident.

In an application seeking to detain her, police cited several factors, including concerns that she was a flight risk because she had no permanent residence, and that her release could allow her to interfere with witnesses or tamper with evidence.

The court further heard that detectives were still reviewing CCTV footage from the area, searching for the weapon allegedly used in the assault and awaiting official post-mortem results. Other suspects believed to have been involved remain at large.
