Police seek help to reunite lost child in Anambra

The Anambra State Police Command is seeking the assistance of members of the public in identifying and reuniting a four-year-old boy, who gave his name as Ifedimma Emmanuel, with his family.

According to a statement issued by the spokesman for the command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, on Saturday, the child was found wandering along Anatanaba Road, Okpoko.

Ikenga said he was picked up by a joint security patrol comprising police operatives attached to the Okpoko Police Division and members of the Okpoko Vigilante Group during an evening foot patrol on Friday.

He said, “The child, who gave his name as Ifedimma Emmanuel, was unable to provide sufficient information regarding his parents, guardians, residential address or other details that could assist in establishing his identity and tracing his family.

“He is presently in the safe custody of the Police, where his welfare and safety are being adequately attended to, while efforts are ongoing to locate his parents or other members of his family.

“The Command is therefore appealing to parents, guardians, relatives and members of the public who may recognise the child or have any information that could assist in identifying and locating his family to promptly contact Okpoko Police Division or the Anambra State Police Command.

“Members of the public are encouraged to provide any relevant information that may assist the Police in verifying the child’s identity and facilitating his safe reunification with his family.”

He assured the public that the welfare, safety and protection of the child remained paramount and that every necessary step was being taken to ensure his safe and timely reunification with his family.
