Jose Chameleone’s eldest son, Abba Marcus Mayanja, has been released from custody following a court appearance at Ridgedale on August 17.
According to Ugandan media reports, Marcus was granted a non-cash conditional release without paying the initially listed Sh1.3m ($10,000) cash bail bond.
However, his release does not mean the domestic assault charge has been dismissed, as the allegations are yet to be proven in court.
In the wake of his release, his pregnant girlfriend, Angelica Becker, also known as Angel, posted conflicting messages on social media expressing her feelings.
“I still love him bro. I still do. Even if he is gone bro, I still miss him. Genuinely! Even if he hates, when he does get released. I still love him. He is still the father of my child,” she said.
Marcus was originally arrested on August 14 by Edina Police and booked on a misdemeanour domestic assault charge.
The charge involved an act allegedly intended to cause fear of immediate bodily harm or death.
The arrest followed a highly publicised dispute with Angel, who accused him of repeated assaults during her pregnancy and stated that she intended to seek justice.
Shortly before the arrest, Marcus denied the allegations and announced that their relationship had ended, despite the couple having revealed earlier this year that they were expecting a child together.
It remains unclear whether those earlier allegations are directly connected to his August 14 arrest.
