America’s veteran singer, Faheem Rashad Najm, popularly known as T-Pain has secured his family’s future by selling his entire music catalog for about sh 13 Billion ($100 million).
The Grammy-winning artist, made the deal early 2025 with HarbourView Equity Partners, saying the main reason was to protect his three children, daughter Lyriq and sons Muziq and Kaydnz, from the unpredictable music industry.
Speaking on a Twitch livestream, T-Pain explained that streaming changed everything without asking artists.
He said when platforms like Spotify started, no one told musicians how much their songs would be worth. Instead, songs that once sold for a dollar each now earn as little as 0.003 cents per play.
He added that this rate keeps dropping, making his catalog less valuable over time. “You think I want to leave that to my kids?” he asked.
He did not want his children’s future to depend on an industry that keeps paying artists less. T-Pain said HarbourView offered him “100 years’ worth of money” in one payment.
In simple terms, they showed him how much he earned yearly from his songs and multiplied it by 100.
That made the decision easy. “I know exactly how much I need to live the rest of my life,” he said. Once he got that amount, he was satisfied and did not chase more.
At the time of the sale, he expressed excitement about partnering with HarbourView, saying that the deal would help preserve the legacy of his music, which represents years of hard work and creativity.
He also noted he was not stopping anytime soon and looked forward to new projects.
For T-Pain, the $100 million payout is about generational wealth and peace of mind. The star rose to fame in the mid 2000’s with his banger hit songs like, Sprung, Bartender and Buy you a drink (Shawty snapping).
