A man who frequently visited his girlfriend at her workplace has admitted to fracturing her right hand after he was ordered to stop visiting the premises while under the influence of an illegal substance.
Simon Wachira appeared before Makadara Chief Magistrate Beatrice Kimemia, where he pleaded guilty to causing grievous harm to his girlfriend, Norah Musau.
The incident occurred on April 1, 2026 at Bondeni, Mathare, in Starehe Sub-County, Nairobi County. Wachira hit the complainant with a blunt object, fracturing her right hand.
Wachira had been repeatedly visiting Musau at her workplace, a habit that displeased her employer. The boss cautioned him against frequenting the premises, citing concerns over missing client property.
The warning did not sit well with Wachira. He left angrily but returned later that evening, staggering into the house where Musau was. He demanded to know why she had “chased him away like a thief.”
Still aggrieved by the earlier confrontation, Wachira grabbed a piece of wood and struck Musau on her right hand, causing the fracture.
She was rushed to MSF Hospital, where doctors confirmed the fracture. The matter was reported to the authorities, leading to Wachira’s arrest.
In court, the prosecution noted the serious nature of the offence and its public interest, praying for stringent bond terms.
