According to a recent announcement from the service, the iconic ensemble is not just for national holidays and state funerals anymore. The dream team is open to the public for a variety of private functions.
Booking fees are currently listed between Sh40,000 and Sh60,000.
While the exact cost likely depends on the location and duration of the performance, it’s a relatively affordable price point for a professional live band of this calibre.
“You can hire the Kenya Police Band for your private functions, which include weddings, graduations and corporate events. With unmatched discipline and a rich musical heritage, the band delivers a unique and memorable experience for any occasion,” the Kenya Police Service wrote in an X post, accompanied by a video of the band performing.
Reactions on social media, since then, have been nothing short of interesting.
“I’d like to hire them for my wedding but wavae suits to match the theme of the wedding. Is it possible ama lazima wavae these ugly police uniforms?” asked one.
“This is the perfect ever indicator of Economic Recession! Ni kubaya! Ni mbaya,” joked another.
But here’s the thing. If you want your next event to be “criminally” good, you might want to give the boys in blue a call.
Just make sure your guests are on their best behaviour; after all, the band brings their own security.
