Kenyan boxer Majembe secured a technical knockout victory over Mbavu Destroyer at the Vurugu Boxing event held at the Kasarani Indoor Arena in Nairobi.

Twenty-one-year-old Portifas Odipo, popularly known as Majembe, won the bout after landing a powerful punch just below the stomach of Ferdinand Omondi, known online as Mbavu Destroyer.

The blow sent Mbavu to the canvas, writhing in pain.

Doctors quickly rushed into the ring to attend to him. After a few minutes, Mbavu signalled to the referee that he was unable to continue.

The match was stopped, with Majembe declared the winner by TKO.

A technical knockout occurs when a referee or ringside doctor halts the fight because a boxer is too injured to safely proceed, even if they have not been knocked unconscious.

Ahead of the highly anticipated clash, the feud between the two content creators had begun on TikTok, quickly escalating into a national talking point.

The rivalry attracted backing from high-profile figures, including business leaders, politicians, and President William Ruto.

Before the fight, Ruto contributed Sh1 million to each boxer for training and purchased 2,000 tickets for fans, bringing his total support to Sh4 million.

Kasarani MP Ronald Karauri pledged Sh2 million, while businessman Oketch Salah donated Sh200,000.

ODM leader Oburu Oginga also gave a cash gift and later shared photos of the presentation on social media.

Majembe walked away with a lucrative prize package, including the Vurugu Championship Belt, Sh1 million in cash, and a brand new Toyota Noah from a betting firm.

He also received a Taro GP1 sport bike valued at Sh385,000 and a one-year gym membership.

The event drew large crowds and featured performances by artistes Khaligraph Jones, DNA, and Iyanii. Popular narrator DJ Afro provided commentary as fans cheered throughout the arena.

Kenyans on social media shared mixed reactions. On X, Darius Mutua wrote, “That was interesting. Congratulations Majembe.” Another user, Odero, joked, “Mbegu destroyer.”
