The mitumba traders fom Gikomba were a happy lot when President William Ruto extended an invitation to 5,000 fired-up ladies from the Maendeleo ya Wanawake Organisation.
“Keep politics out!” Ruto slammed at the Gikomba modernisation naysayers, as he reiterated his plans about the market’s epic transformation.
He said the request was from the traders themselves, after years of enduring harsh weather and disasters in the congested busy market.
The plan which is supposed to be a nationwide blockbuster with 450 modern markets rolling out countrywide, is expected to have safety upgrades, with top-tier infrastructure.
In his speech, the president hyped women as the real backbone of Kenya’s glow-up, urging them to denounce tribalism, hatred, and division.
“Ladies, you’re the unity squad, ditch the ethnic drama!” he commanded, calling out critics for their insult-fueled propaganda, daring them to profess their agenda instead.

Economic flexes had the crowd cheering, with national savings allegedly skyrocketing from Sh312 billion to Sh670 billion in just 2.5 years, doubling 60 years of National Social Security Fund hauls.
“We’re owning our destiny, no more begging for loans,” Ruto declared. Agricultural world got a massive shout out too.
Fertilizer prices being slashed from KSh7,000 to KSh2,500 a bag, Cartels crushed in tea, coffee, sugar.
Currently 7.2 million farmers are allegedly digitally tracked for crops, livestock, and needs, boosting food production and paychecks, with sugar farmers cashing in every seven days as coffee leaped from Sh50-70/kg to Sh120-150.
The president went on to manifest his Affordable Housing agenda, claiming the employment of 640,000 from engineers to carpenters.
Touching on the NYOTA projects, digitals gigs and overseas hustles, he claims economy is stabilizing and youth are leveling up.
In a powerful move, Ruto greenlit KSh250 million for Maendeleo ya Wanawake Sacco, fueling women’s business dreams.
Nodding to the two-thirds gender rule, promising Parliament teamwork for more female politicians. Not forgetting denouncement against alcohol and drugs, via NACADA’s aide.
Also present was the First Lady Rachael Ruto who credited food security to spiritual interventions.
Lands CS Alice Wahome also chimed in, pushing Ruto on gender rule fixes and echoing housing hostels, homes projects and markets transforming that will change the ordinary trader’s life.
