Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko flaunted bundles of cash as he bought the luxurious Samsung Galaxy Z Trifold worth Sh609,000.
In the viral video seen by TNX Africa, the politician and businessman shared that he bought unit number 119, which is one of only 500 ever made in the world.
This reportedly makes him the first person in East Africa known to own this specific device.
“Unaniambia it is the only piece in Kenya,” he said as he analysed the phone.
Following a brief conversation about its specifications and difference from the other phones lined up on the former Governor’s desk, it was time to pay.
Sonko removed bundles of cash from a box and counted together with the seller up to Sh. 600,000.
He then counted the remaining nine from another bundle from his pocket.
Drawing excitement from the seller, Sam K, who said, “Money makes the world go round,” he clarified, “This is not for wash wash.”
This came after the NEDP leader Mike Sonko caused a stir on social media after posting a video showing off Sh54 million in cash.
In a video circulating on social media, Mike Sonko is seen piling stacks of cash, both US dollars and Kenyan shillings onto a table.
He started by counting out $370,000 (about Sh47 million) in $100 bills before moving on to bundles of Kenyan Sh1,000, Sh200, and Sh100 notes that looked like something out of a movie.
After using a calculator to add it all up, he showed that the total came to Sh54 million. He reportedly showed off the money to answer rumors that cash was used to influence recent local elections where UDA candidates won.
Rather than focusing on the accusations, Sonko dismissed them and took the chance to give the public a look at his expensive lifestyle.
