The burial of Johana Ng’eno was marked by emotional tributes, but it was the words of his widow, Naiyanoi Ntutu, that brought many mourners to tears.
Standing before family, friends and residents who had gathered to honour the late legislator, Naiyanoi delivered a heartfelt tribute that reflected both deep grief and remarkable strength.
When it was her turn to speak, Naiyanoi composed herself before reading the tribute she had prepared for the man she described as her closest companion and greatest support. Her voice carried both sorrow and gratitude as she reflected on their life together.
“Good morning, I am going to read the tribute. My love, Johana, your leaving had left a huge space in my heart. You were my friend, my husband, and his memories will live on forever. People of Dikirr, thank you for your love, and I will continue to support you. I will help you however I can. Johana you were loved and will be remembered forever,” she said.
Her words captured the pain of losing a partner while also acknowledging the overwhelming support the family had received from the people Ng’eno served. The widow noted that the bond between the late MP and his constituents went far beyond politics, recalling how deeply he cared for their struggles and aspirations.
Despite the heavy loss, Naiyanoi assured residents of Emurua Dikirr that she would continue to stand with them, just as her husband had done throughout his political career. Her promise to support the community was received with applause and quiet nods from mourners who had come to pay their last respects.
In another touching moment, she addressed her mother-in-law, expressing gratitude and commitment to maintaining the family bond that Ng’eno cherished.
“To my mum in love, Mary, I will continue to care and respect you like my own mum.”
The tribute also carried a message of reassurance to their children, who now face life without their father. Naiyanoi reminded them that their father’s love for them never wavered, even in his final moments.
Through her words, she painted a picture of a devoted family man whose life revolved not only around politics but also around those closest to him. To the grieving children, she affirmed that their father’s love and legacy would remain part of their lives. “To our kids. Your dad loved you so much, and his spirit will live in you forever,”
Ng’eno, who served as the Member of Parliament for Emurua Dikirr Constituency, was remembered as a leader deeply connected to his people and devoted to his family. His death shocked the constituency, where many described him as a vocal representative who was passionate about development and the welfare of his constituents.
