A chilling video has emerged showing an armed man firing live rounds into a house during a reported raid on a night party in Nairobi.

The two-minute clip, now circulating widely online, captures scenes reminiscent of a high-stakes thriller.

In the footage, the man, suspected to be a plainclothes police officer, is seen standing outside what appears to be a rental unit, holding a rifle.

The door to the house shuts moments later, and he is seen struggling to cock the weapon.

After several attempts, he manages to ready the rifle, strides to an open window, mounts it and fires a shot inside.

“Fungua!” he shouts, as terrified screams ring out from within the house.

“Kila mtu alale chini! Leta mkono hapa!” another voice commands, ordering those inside to lie down and surrender.

“Unajua nitakuamsha hapo na makofi! Amka haraka!” a third voice yells.

Multiple reports allege that the incident was captured at the University of Nairobi Kikuyu campus, although this has yet to be independently verified.

Online, Kenyans reacted with outrage, questioning the use of live ammunition in what appeared to be a raid on a student party.

“How will he explain missing live rounds back at the station? What gangsters was he hunting down? What is the prison term for having a house party?” one user posed on X.

“This is above and beyond… If someone had died, what would they say? We move on again with investigations while someone is six feet under?” another wrote.

The incident comes barely two weeks after Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja appeared before the Senate County Public Accounts Committee on February 12, 2026.

During the session, Kanja maintained that no public officer is above the law and pledged the National Police Service’s commitment to accountability. He stated that the NPS is always ready to arrest and present individuals before the committee if formally directed, including governors who defy Senate summonses.
