Two tourists from Taiwan had a terrifying run-in with locals after a car accident, with one viral video on X capturing their ordeal.

The two visibly shaken men spoke to a local journalist and a police officer, trying to explain in broken English that they were attacked and had their bags stolen.

“I go and the car is coming. I was shocked. Everybody fighting me, beating me and someone stole our bag,” one tourist said.

Wearing a flowery shirt and striped shorts, he showed the assault on camera as someone grabbed his necktie.

“You see, you see…like this,” he said, while the reporter pulled the attacker away and the camera panned to the road. “We are just traveling here from Taiwan,” he added.

The second tourist, in a maroon-checked shirt, said, “Somebody tried to hit me and they were charging me money. So we said no, we go. They fight us, it was scary.” When asked if their belongings were safe, both said they had no idea where their bags were.

“We don’t know where our bags are,” they told the police officer as the video ended.

It is not apparent from the video where or how exactly the confrontation began.

However, the incident has sparked outrage on social media.

Kiplangat Kerich wrote on X, “What is this nonsense? A classic case of shooting ourselves in the foot. How exactly do we expect to grow tourism when these barbaric acts—beating and robbing tourists—are happening? It’s completely counterproductive and damages the country’s image and economy.”

In the melee, another clip surfaced showing a local giving their side of the story, “Wewe jana ulipita jioni kutoka huko, ukaingia kwa barabara adi gari ingine ikakufuata. Saa hii umerudia tena, wewe!”

This incident comes barely months after a Tesla Cybertruck on a global tour as part of a Guinness World Record attempt reportedly ran into a hostile crowd in Tanzania.

A video showing men from a parked bus confronting the vehicle and its passengers, who were urged to stop and wait for authorities, as some appeared ready to block or stone the truck.
