Troops of the Nigerian Army and the Joint Task Force (North East) have achieved significant successes in counter-terrorism operations across Kogi and Borno states, recovering weapons, neutralising terrorists, and rescuing kidnapped victims.
In Kogi, soldiers of the 12 Brigade conducting Operation “IGBO IDANU” captured a notorious terrorist’s camp in the forest, recovering eight boxes of 7.62 x 54mm linked ammunition and a box of high-velocity grenades.
A credible military source told the News Agency of Nigeria that the operation was conducted by a combined combat team on February 10 from a harbour location at Batijjo’s Camp, advancing towards another camp linked to another terror kingpin operating in the axis.
The operation involved advancing through thick forest, felled trees, and three riverine obstacles.
The final river near the bandits’ enclave, reportedly linked to Kachalla Ibrahim and Shu’aibu, forced troops to proceed 1.5km on foot before securing the objective.
The camp was found deserted, and troops set it ablaze to deny future use as a terrorist staging base.
“Undeterred, the troops dismounted and advanced about 1.5km on foot to the objective, led by the Brigade Commander, Brig Gen K.U. Sidi,” the source said.
Meanwhile, in Borno, troops of Operation Hadin Kai, in coordination with the Civilian Joint Task Force, neutralised 16 ISWAP terrorists and rescued 11 kidnapped victims during counter-offensives along the Komala and Chibok–Damboa axes. The operations followed a repelled midnight attack on Forward Operating Base, Auno.
Items recovered included over 20 bicycles, weapons, and logistics supplies critical to terrorist operations.
Suspected ISWAP logistics suppliers transporting drugs were also arrested near Bukarti.
The Media Information Officer of OPHK, Lt Col Sani Uba, stated that the operations underscored sustained efforts to dismantle terrorist networks, disrupt logistics corridors, and protect civilians across the North East.
