Amos Wanjala, Kenya’s promising 19-year-old central defender and Harambee Stars U-20 captain, has made history after signing with Spanish La Liga side Valencia CF.

The move was confirmed by Kenyan football agent David Kenga, who described the transfer as the culmination of months of hard work behind the scenes.

“It’s been a long wait, but eventually our boy Amos Wanjala has finalised his deal with Valencia. This is a very big step in his career. Our team worked day and night to ensure the deal went through so that he can continue progressing,” said Kenga.

“This is a big moment for Kenya, for Amos, his family and for us as his representatives. God willing, we hope to see him playing in La Liga with the first team,” he added.

Wanjala, on his part, said his focus is on hard work and delivering results.

“I am very happy to be here at Valencia CF. It’s a great club with a rich history,” he said.

Wanjala joins Valencia’s reserve side, VCF Mestalla, marking a major milestone for Kenyan football on Europe’s elite stage.

His signing sparked excitement online, with many congratulating him.

The defender was officially unveiled on January 25, 2026, arriving from Athletic Club Torrellano, who compete in Spain’s Tercera Federación.

He moved to Spain in 2024 from Nastic Sports Academy, where he began attracting international attention.

Wanjala’s journey began in Kenya’s youth football system and saw him rise to captain the national U-20 side during the Africa Cup of Nations.

Born in Mombasa, he gained early recognition leading St. Anthony’s Boys High School to a national title before moving to Spain.

He now follows in the footsteps of rare Kenyan trailblazers such as Alvin Kasavuli, with his move further highlighting East Africa’s growing export of football talent to Europe.
