Madeleine Porzia is an emerging filmmaker with a growing passion for visual storytelling and, in particular, camera work. Her background spans cinema, theatre, acting, cinematography, camera operation, lighting, and grip, giving her the opportunity to experience many different sides of filmmaking. Working across these areas has helped her develop a real appreciation for the collaborative nature of production and a curiosity to keep learning.
Over time, Madeleine has found herself increasingly drawn to the camera and the ways it can shape and tell a story. She enjoys being on set, getting hands-on, and learning through experience, whether it’s camera operating, working as a DOP, assisting, or getting more familiar with the technical side of lighting and grip. She brings a genuine curiosity to each project and is always looking for an opportunity to learn something new.
Her background in community theatre, along with her involvement in the Dalhousie Cinema and Media Studies Society, has also shaped the way she works with others. She enjoys being part of a team, connecting with people, and contributing to a shared creative vision. Now beginning her career in Toronto, Madeleine is excited to continue building her skills, gaining experience, and finding her place within the camera department and the wider film community.
