Kenyan content creator Ciggie Johnson has amused social media users after sharing a relay race photo appearing to show him handing a baton to rapper Stevo Simple Boy amid their separate DNA controversies.
Ciggie posted the image without a caption, leaving fans to interpret the possible message behind the gesture as the two entertainers faced questions about the paternity of children they had raised as their own.
The post comes after Ciggie made headlines following reports that a DNA test had established he was not the biological father of a 12-year-old girl he had raised and supported since birth.
Stevo has also been at the centre of a paternity dispute after DNA results reportedly showed he was not the biological father of Dragon Junior, the child he shares with his former partner, Brenda.
Although Ciggie did not explain the photograph, social media users interpreted the baton handover as a cheeky welcome to the club of men whose paternity disputes had attracted public attention.
“Ciggie really said, ‘Welcome to the club, bro. Here is your official membership card,’” @Jonlee Biff wrote.
Another user, @Dave Okoth, borrowed from the popular online phrase “dust delayed is not dust denied” to ask: “Is that a dust relay baton?”
The remarks played on the internet slang “kupigwa dust”, commonly used to describe romantic disappointment, with the relay image giving the ongoing conversation a sporting twist.
Stevo’s DNA results have continued to attract public attention, with reports linking the findings to the breakdown of his relationship with Brenda.
Brenda has, however, disputed suggestions that Stevo was entirely unaware of the child’s paternity before the test. She has claimed that he already knew the circumstances surrounding the child’s paternity.
She further maintained that the two had agreed to raise the child together for content creation, despite Stevo allegedly knowing that he was not the biological father.
