Chris Brown has once again stirred strong reactions after posting a series of angry messages on Instagram, where he called himself “the king” of music and said no other artist can match him, even on his worst day.

The 37-year-old R&B star used his Instagram Stories to lash out at the music industry and celebrity culture, saying he is tired of comparisons, politics, and what he describes as “fake love.”

In the posts, Brown described the music business as a “circus” and made it clear he does not care for other celebrities.

“I am not your friend, I am not your buddy, I do not like [the] majority of you,” the post read.

He explained that he no longer wants relationships or interactions that do not directly help his children. Brown also stressed that he has stayed relevant for 20 years without strong support from the industry, despite constant media scrutiny.

At the end of his message, he warned that he is done trying to be humble and is ready to be seen as “the villain” if that is what it takes.

Many fans believe Brown’s comments were aimed at his current tour partner, Usher. During a recent show on their co-headlining The R&B Tour, Usher placed a crown on his own head while performing, a move that many saw as him declaring himself the “King of R&B.”

Because Brown’s “king” rant came just days after that moment, supporters online say it looks like a direct reply, even though Brown did not explicitly name Usher in his posts.

This latest outburst follows another controversy earlier in September 2026, when Texas lawmakers honored Brown and Usher during their Arlington concert.

After state Rep. Venton Jones apologized for taking part in the honor due to backlash over Brown’s past domestic violence case, Brown fired back on Instagram. He said he never asked to be honored, claimed the lawmakers approached him first, and told them to leave him alone so he can focus on his fans.

Brown’s new “king” claims have quickly gone viral, with some fans praising his confidence and others criticizing his tone. While supporters say he has earned the right to speak boldly after two decades in music, critics argue the remarks show arrogance, especially given his long history of legal and personal controversies.
