comedian and actor DJ Shiti is mourning the death of his father, Richard Ndede Mbanda, who passed away after battling cancer for seven years.
DJ Shiti shared the heart breaking news on social media, posting a photo of himself inside a vehicle and paying tribute to his late father.
He mentioned that his father died on Wednesday morning after years of battling the disease.
“My Old Man Joined his Ancestors Yesterday Morning, After Battling Cancer for 7 years. One-day cancer will Also die. Rest in power Omwami Richard Ndede Mbanda”
DJ Shiti, whose real name is Steven Oduor Dede, is a Kenyan comedian, actor, content creator and master of ceremonies.
Following the announcement, friends, fellow entertainers and fans took to the comments section to console the comedian and his family.
Comedian and media personality Dr Ofweneke was among those who sent a message of comfort to DJ Shiti.
Dr Ofweneke wrote,“My condolences, bro Comfort” Nickmutuma wrote “pole sana bro,my condolences”.”Pole sana Omwami .Mola akupe nguvu.May his soul rest in peace”,wrote parroty Vunulu.
He rose to prominence through his distinctive comedy and acting, particularly his role as DJ Shiti in the popular television comedy-drama The Real Househelps of Kawangware.
The show became a major platform for several Kenyan entertainers and helped establish him as a familiar face in the country’s entertainment industry.
His journey to fame, however, was marked by significant struggles. DJ Shiti began performing at the Nakuru Players Theatre, where he took part in set-book performances, plays and stand-up comedy.
He later travelled between Nakuru and Nairobi in pursuit of opportunities before eventually settling in Nairobi in 2013.
He auditioned for Churchill Show, which became another important step in his career.
His entertainment career later expanded to music appearances, event hosting and brand partnerships.
In 2017, he was appointed a StarTimes Kenya brand ambassador, following his growing popularity from The Real Househelps of Kawangware.
