A 26-year-old woman was arrested at Buruburu Police Station after attempting to sneak illegal drugs to her detained boyfriend inside a loaf of bread.

In a post by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on X, Bernice Achieng arrived at the station asking officers to deliver a loaf of bread to her boyfriend, who was being held in custody.

Police officers became suspicious when they noticed the bread package was unsealed. A search revealed five rolls of cannabis popularly known as bhang and a matchbox hidden deep inside the loaf.

Officers then searched Achieng and discovered seven more rolls of bhang in her jacket pocket, bringing the total number of recovered rolls to twelve. Achieng is currently in custody awaiting her court appearance.

In a separate incident in Thika West, police also arrested a suspected drug dealer following a dramatic motorcycle chase through Kairi.

The suspect, identified as John Mwangi, also known as “Bombay,” was riding a motorcycle with a female passenger when they spotted a police roadblock. Mwangi attempted to speed away to escape the officers.

However, his bike lost control and crashed near Ree Supermarket after he misjudged a speed bump.

During the confusion after the crash, the female passenger escaped into the crowd. Police arrested Mwangi at the scene and seized 300 rolls of bhang along with an additional three kilograms of the drug wrapped in polythene and strapped to his motorcycle seat.

Mwangi is being held at Kimuchu Police Station as police prepare to charge him in court.
