Two people have been killed after a small aircraft crashed in the Kipeto area of Kajiado County while conducting a training flight on Friday, September 18, 2026.
The aircraft went down near the Kipeto Wind Power Project while on a routine training flight, killing the two people on board, a student pilot and a flight instructor.
Kajiado West Sub-County Police Commander Maurine Jepkemboi confirmed the incident, saying preliminary reports indicate the aircraft crashed in the hilly area of Kipeto.
“ There were two souls onboard. One victim succumbed at the scene, while the other was rushed to the hospital by an ambulance and later succumbed to the injuries,” the sub-county commander said.
Early reports from the crash site showed the aircraft extensively damaged, with debris scattered across the surrounding open ground.

Photographs from the scene showed members of the public and emergency responders gathered around the wreckage as efforts to establish what happened continued.
The aircraft was reportedly involved in a training exercise, raising questions about what may have happened during the flight.
However, no cause of the crash had been established by the time of reporting.
The circumstances surrounding the crash were still emerging as emergency and security teams responded to the scene.
Investigators are expected to examine the aircraft, flight records and conditions at the time of the accident as part of efforts to establish the circumstances that led to the crash.
Authorities have also urged members of the public to keep away from the crash site and avoid disturbing or handling debris as investigations continue.
The accident comes amid increased attention on aviation safety in Kenya following several fatal aircraft incidents this year. In August, seven people were killed when a tourist helicopter crashed near Mount Ololokwe in Samburu County.
