A Kenyan man living in the United States who went viral for his striking resemblance to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has finally met the politician in person.
The two met on Sunday, September 6, 2026, in Spokane, Washington, where they chatted, laughed and posed for photos together.
Gachagua is currently on a multi-week US tour, meeting Kenyans in the diaspora and holding political engagements. His schedule lists Spokane from September 4 to 10.
During the visit, he met the man whose videos recently went viral online because of his resemblance to the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader.

In a TikTok video from the encounter, the two are seen wearing cowboy hats and Maasai shukas as they greet each other and chat.
Gachagua’s wife, Pastor Dorcas Rigathi, was also present and is seen smiling and interacting with people nearby.
The man, identified in reports as King Cyrus, also known as Ndung’u, first drew attention after a video of him dancing at a Mugithi country music-style event in Seattle went viral in mid-August.
In the footage, he wears a brown cowboy hat, plaid shirt and trousers, an outfit that viewers said closely resembled Gachagua’s casual public style.
Festival-goers jokingly dubbed him “Gachagua Mdogo”, meaning “younger Gachagua”, while others called out “DP!” as they gathered around him.
During their face-to-face meeting, Gachagua asked about his name, whether he was Kenyan and what he does for a living in the US.
The encounter turned an online meme into a real-life meeting, bringing together the DCP leader and the Kenyan whose striking resemblance to him had amused social media users.
