Nigerian singer Ayra Starr has revealed that she is recovering from surgery related to endometriosis, giving fans a glimpse into the health challenge she has been facing.

The “Rush” hitmaker shared the update on Instagram on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, posting a photo of her stomach around the area where she underwent the operation.

Ayra indicated that her recovery was progressing well as she gradually regained her strength.

In a light-hearted update, the singer linked her physical recovery to her return to fitness and music, saying she was beginning to see her abdominal muscles return while also celebrating the performance of her albums.

“I’m starting to get my abs back, endometriosis healing and my albums are also selling,” she wrote.

The revelation comes weeks after Ayra disclosed that she had undergone major surgery.

On July 30, the singer told her Instagram followers that she had been operated on a few days earlier, although she did not initially reveal the reason for the procedure.

She explained that her recovery had taken longer than expected because the surgery had proved more complicated than doctors had initially anticipated.

Ayra also apologised to fans for her reduced presence online, saying she needed time to rest before returning to her usual activities.

“I’m sorry you’re not seeing as much of me as I would like. I had major surgery a few days ago. I was hoping it would be a quick recovery, but it was more complicated than they expected. I just need a bit of rest, and I’ll be back,” she said.

Her latest update has now given fans more insight into what she has been dealing with while reassuring them that she is making progress.

Endometriosis is a chronic condition in which tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus. It can cause severe pelvic pain, painful periods and other complications.

The abnormal tissue responds to hormonal changes, which can lead to inflammation, scarring and the formation of ovarian cysts.

Treatment depends on the severity of the condition and may include medication or surgery.
