Zambia’s First Lady, Mutinta Hichilema, captured attention at President Hakainde Hichilema’s inauguration ceremony, turning heads with her elegant red-and-white ensemble.

Mutinta was among the notable figures at the colourful ceremony held at the National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka, where President Hichilema was sworn in for his second term.

For the occasion, the First Lady opted for a carefully coordinated red-and-white outfit that complemented her poised appearance and immediately caught the attention of guests and spectators.

Her fashion choice added a memorable style moment to an event largely focused on Zambia’s political transition and the beginning of another presidential term.

First Ladies often attract public interest during major national occasions, with their fashion choices becoming part of the visual identity of such ceremonies.

Mutinta became Zambia’s First Lady in 2021 after her husband assumed office as president. Born on May 7, 1967, in Shibuyunji, Zambia, she has since used the platform provided by her office to champion social causes affecting women, children and young people.

Her public engagements have focused on women’s empowerment, youth development, early childhood development and the welfare of vulnerable communities.

She has also advocated against child marriage, while supporting initiatives aimed at improving opportunities for young people and strengthening community-based programmes.

Through her advocacy, Mutinta has sought to complement government efforts while drawing greater attention to social issues affecting ordinary Zambians.

At the inauguration, however, it was her distinctive fashion choice that placed her firmly in the spotlight, adding glamour to an otherwise politically significant occasion.

As Zambia begins another chapter under President Hichilema, Mutinta is expected to continue using her position to champion social causes while remaining a prominent figure in the country’s public life.
