A high-profile guest list, headlined by President William Ruto, gathered on Saturday, August 30, to celebrate the marriage of Ian Njuguna Waiguru and Joanne Gonzales.
Njuguna, the son of Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru, exchanged vows with Joanne in a ceremony attended by close family, friends and political leaders.
Images seen by TNX Africa showed the bride looking elegant in a white off-shoulder wedding gown, while the groom wore a white tuxedo.
The bridesmaids donned red dresses, while the groomsmen wore jungle green suits, white shirts and red ties.
Following the ceremony, President Ruto congratulated the newlyweds, urging them to build their marriage on commitment, patience and mutual support.
“Warmest congratulations to Njuguna Waiguru, son of Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru, and Joanne Gonzales as you begin your life together in marriage,” Ruto wrote on Facebook.
Ruto encouraged the couple to build a strong and resilient home by listening to each other, forgiving generously and supporting one another through different seasons of life.
“May you build a strong and happy home, grow together through every season of life, and find in each other enduring friendship, strength and companionship. As you walk this journey together, stand by each other, listen with patience, forgive generously and never stop choosing one another. May your marriage be blessed with lasting love, abundant joy and many wonderful years together,” he added.
Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga also shared images from the wedding, congratulating the couple.
“I was honoured to witness Njuguna Waiguru, the son of my colleague Governor Anne Waiguru, tie the knot with his fiancée, Joanne Gonzales. May their marriage bring them joy and happiness for a lifetime!” Wanga wrote.
Nominated Senator Veronica Maina also congratulated the couple in a Facebook post.
“Harusi tunayo! Congratulations to the newest couple in town, Ian & Joanne, Governor Anne Waiguru’s son and daughter-in-law. May God beautify their marriage and favour them with wonderful blessings!” she wrote.
Governor Waiguru, who is serving her second term as Kirinyaga governor after first being elected in 2017, appeared joyful as she celebrated the milestone with her son and daughter-in-law.
