Nigerian socialite Tiamiu Abdulrahman Kayode, popularly known as Rahman Jago has spoken out following the reported arrest of his colleague and friend, Poco Lee, in the United Kingdom.
Poco Lee, whose real name is Iweh Odinaka, is reportedly being held on remand in the UK over an alleged assault offence and is expected to appear before the Snaresbrook Crown Court in London in September.
Reacting to the situation, Rahman Jago expressed concern over what his friend is going through while urging people not to use the development to seek attention online.
He said he believes there is more to the situation than what has been publicly reported and asked people to support Poco Lee during the difficult period.
“Seeing my brother go through such a serious and painful situation is heartbreaking. I know the person he is, and I truly believe there is more to this situation than what people may have heard, this is not the time to chase clout, we all know poco to be a joy giver and this is when he needs us the most. May we never be in situation where only God is our witness.”
Rahman Jago’s comments come amid growing reactions to reports of Poco Lee’s arrest, with several social media users weighing in on the development.
The reports of Poco Lee’s detention began circulating online August 19 after fresh allegations by rapper Ms Jorji surfaced in which she claimed that Poco Lee had attempted to sexually assault her and her friend.
However, details of the allegation remain limited, and the case is expected to come before the court at his scheduled hearing.
Recall Benjamin Kuti, popularly known as the Oluomo of Derby and founder of the community of Nigerians in the United Kingdom confirmed the development.
“I can confirm that the reports are true. Poco Lee is currently on remand in a UK prison. His next court date is scheduled for the second week of September, when he is expected to have a plea hearing,” he said.
He added that he planned to attend the proceedings to support the dancer during the legal process.
