A mental health advocate and wife of a veteran Massachusetts police officer has been named in an active arrest warrant following her husband’s death at their family home.
According to local media reports, 58-year-old Karen Solomon has been missing for more than five days. Surveillance footage seen by TNX Africa captured her walking down a quiet residential street in casual clothing early Tuesday morning, August 18.
The footage was recorded shortly after responding officers arrived at the couple’s residence and found 31-year police veteran Officer Kurt Solomon with severe injuries.
Worcester Police Chief Paul Saucier confirmed during a news briefing that the veteran officer died from injuries inflicted by a sharp instrument.
“Kurt was a hell of a guy. He was an awesome police officer and an awesome person, and he’s going to be truly missed,” Saucier told reporters, reflecting on the officer’s decades of service to the department and community.
The warrant charges Karen Solomon with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon in connection with her husband’s death.
Meanwhile, local law enforcement agencies, emergency dive rescue teams, state police investigators and specialised K-9 units continue to search public areas and surrounding waters near Coes Pond. The recreational grounds remain closed to the public as search crews conduct grid operations.
According to The Guardian, Solomon is known for her work advocating for first responders’ mental health and suicide prevention. She has authored several books on occupational trauma among police officers and co-founded First Help, a non-profit organisation dedicated to honouring fallen first responders and supporting their families.
Authorities said court filings confirm that the couple was legally married, but details about their marital status and domestic history have not been disclosed under state domestic violence privacy regulations.
As the search continues, Chief Saucier said law enforcement would remain committed to locating Solomon.
“We will not stop until we find her,” he said, urging anyone with information or relevant surveillance footage to contact investigators.
