The Fanta SKIZIA UTAMU concert at Uhuru Gardens brought together music fans from Nairobi and beyond for a day of live performances, dancing and family-friendly entertainment.

The event featured performances from artists including Nikita Kering, Iyanii, Chris Kaiga, Matata and Colloblue, with the programme combining Afrobeat, Arbantone, gengetone and contemporary Kenyan music.

Fans began arriving early, with families, groups of friends and young people settling in as DJs provided entertainment ahead of the main performances.

The venue was decorated in Fanta’s signature orange and purple colours, while food stalls served snacks and drinks to attendees.

The opening DJ set got the crowd dancing before the main acts took over the stage.

As the evening progressed, the performers moved between slower songs and more energetic numbers, with dancers and backing musicians joining some of the acts.

One of the notable performances came from Burukanga singer Colloblue, who appeared on stage with a group of young dancers.

The performance drew an enthusiastic response from the crowd, with fans dancing and singing along as the concert moved into the evening.

Colloblue said he was pleased with the reception.

“Ndiyo nimetoka stage, the best day manze. The audience has been so amazing, kumekuwa hadi na games motomoto,” he said.

The artiste performed in a white suit paired with an animal-print cape and belt, a cowboy hat and matching accessories.

Explaining his choice of outfit, he said: “Big shout out to Euphoric Gallery. Today’s outfit is from those amazing people. I love free and baggy clothes like this, zile zinaniweka free because I love to dance.”

He also credited his dancers for the choreography they performed during his set.

Colloblue used his closing remarks to encourage young creatives to remain committed to their work.

“To all those young talented ones, don’t give up. Mtu asikushow ati hauwezi fanya, na uweke God mbele kwa kila kitu,” he said.

Nikita Kering was also among the performers who received a strong response from the audience. She performed several of her popular songs, with fans singing along to the lyrics.

“This has been amazing and the audience, oh my goodness, they are fabulous,” Kering said after her performance.

She wore a dark navy-blue denim outfit, complemented by a blonde wig, performing energetically before leaving for another engagement.

The event also featured games and other activities for attendees between performances.

Warau Kahoro, Senior Frontline Marketing Director, ECAF-Coca-Cola, said the event was part of the company’s Fanterverse campaign, which seeks to create different experiences around the Fanta brand.

“As part of this campaign, we have dubbed the Fanterverse. It’s all about our consumers experiencing different aspects of Fanta, so it’s about different ways to express creativity,” Kahoro said.

He said the turnout showed how people could interact through activities such as dancing and games.

The concert ended with fans continuing to dance and take photos as the final performances wrapped up.
