Ariana Grande is taking a break from public life after finishing her Eternal Sunshine tour in September, her spokesperson has said.

‎According to Page Six, the singer has had a huge year; she helped break Box Office records with two Wicked films, launched a comeback tour, and saw her two most recent albums debut at No. 1.

‎Still, she says the constant attention from the public and media has taken a toll on her.

‎Grande’s team said she plans to “take a step back from visibility” once the tour ends.

‎They explained she wants to finish the tour “on a high note, both healthily and happily,” and then enjoy “a much-deserved break from public-facing work and appearances.”

‎Touring has been very special to her; she called it “a beautiful experience” and said she has “loved every minute” of performing for fans.

‎She will complete the tour with a string of shows at London’s O2 Arena that end on Sept. 1, reports BBC.

‎The timing of the announcement follows the release of Grande’s new album, petal, and its striking title-track video.

‎The video pokes at the harsh judgment women face about their looks. It shows Grande as a performer being critiqued over and over by judges for her appearance, before the clip turns dark and surreal.

‎That theme of relentless public scrutiny has followed her for years and helps explain why she’s choosing to step back now.

‎Her break will affect acting plans too.

‎Grande has pulled out of the planned 2027 West End revival of Stephen Sondheim’s Sunday in the Park with George, where she would have reunited with her Wicked co-star Jonathan Bailey.

‎Producers said they fully support her decision.

‎Even though she will be less visible afterwards, Grande intends to finish the remaining Eternal Sunshine shows.

‎Petal is also set to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 later this week, following 2024’s fellow chart-topper Eternal Sunshine.
