Hundreds of people gathered in Gaza City to bury more than 100 members of an extended family, including 40 children, after their bodies were recovered by Gaza’s civil defence. The victims had been among more than 300 people killed on 22 November 2023 when Israeli warplanes bombed a residential block. The ceasefire established last October – which has not stopped Israeli bombing of Gaza – has given some breathing room for teams to dig through the rubble, where thousands of remains are still buried across the strip
