Fans exiting Nadia Mukami’s “Nadia at 10” concert walked into a violent ambush outside Ngong Racecourse, where a gang robbed them of phones, cash, jewellery and other valuables in the early hours of Sunday.
In a video seen by TNX Africa, the attackers positioned themselves along poorly lit sections of Ngong Road near the main gate, where fans had gathered to celebrate Nadia’s 10 years in the music industry.
As attendees exited the Masshouse venue inside the racecourse, they were ambushed by the suspects, who threatened them before making away with smartphones, cash, jewellery, handbags and other valuables.
Although private security was deployed inside the venue, the area outside the racecourse appeared largely unprotected, leaving revellers vulnerable as they headed home.

Videos of the aftermath quickly spread across social media, sparking criticism over the apparent security lapse and prompting calls for better coordination between event organisers and police during major entertainment events.
“The country is being steered in the wrong direction. The Cabinet Secretary for Interior has dismissed claims that criminal gangs have taken over parts of the city, despite what many people point to as overwhelming evidence of the current security situation. Dismissing public concerns instead of addressing them only deepens the perception that those in authority are out of touch with the realities citizens face every day, and that’s incompetence,” wrote Nicholas Robert on X.
The brazen robbery comes days after armed robberies at salons in Nairobi and Kiambu, both of which were captured on CCTV and widely circulated online.
The first incident occurred on Sunday, July 26, when two armed men stormed a beauty salon in Saika, Kayole, Nairobi.
Several women were inside the premises when one of the suspects brandished a handgun and ordered them to surrender their valuables as his accomplice stood guard outside.
The pair fled on a waiting motorcycle moments later.
Officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) launched investigations into the robbery.
Earlier, on Friday, July 10, a similar incident was reported at a salon in Ruaka, Kiambu County.
An armed man confronted two women seated outside the salon and attempted to steal a mobile phone.
When one of the victims resisted, the suspect chased her into the premises, grabbed the phone by force, then fired warning shots into the air before escaping on a waiting motorcycle.
The incident was reported at Ruaka Police Station.
