Drama unfolded during the burial of celebrated Gusii gospel singer Liz Kerubo after her husband sparked an emotional confrontation while addressing mourners.

The tense moment occurred when the widower stood to give his speech and reportedly attempted to introduce his second wife and their children to those gathered for the funeral.

Before he could continue, Kerubo’s children interrupted him, with one of her sons confronting his father and grabbing the microphone from him. The incident briefly disrupted the burial as mourners watched the family disagreement play out.

The son reportedly objected to the introduction of the second family during the funeral and insisted that his father return to his seat alongside his second wife and their children. The widower eventually stepped down, allowing the burial programme to continue.

The emotional scenes overshadowed what had otherwise been a solemn occasion to honour the life and legacy of the late gospel musician.

Kerubo’s family had earlier confirmed that the singer died while undergoing treatment after a period of illness.

The gospel artiste was widely known for her uplifting music, which earned her a devoted following across the Gusii region and beyond.

She is best remembered for her hit song “Inchwo Inchwo,” featuring fellow gospel singer Fenny Kerubo, among other songs that inspired many Christians with messages of faith and hope.

Family members, friends, fellow gospel musicians and fans gathered to pay their final respects, describing Kerubo as a talented singer whose music touched countless lives.

Although the burial was marked by the unexpected family drama, mourners also celebrated her contribution to gospel music, recalling her commitment to spreading the Christian message through song.

Liz Kerubo leaves behind a rich musical legacy that continues to inspire her fans, with many remembering her for the hope, encouragement and spiritual comfort she shared through her music.
