Instagram has introduced a long-requested feature: individual captions for each slide in carousel posts, Engadgets reports.

Previously, creators could only add a single caption that applied to the entire carousel.

The new option, currently rolling out in India, appears as a simple toggle during carousel creation, one just need to tap the caption area and enable “Multiple Captions” to write distinct text for every photo or video.

This change makes carousels far more flexible. Instead of stretching one caption across multiple images, creators can now provide specific context, narrate step-by-step tutorials, pace a story, or land punchlines, as viewers swipe through. 

For educational accounts, travel storytellers, meme pages, and product showcases, the feature makes it easier to guide attention and deepen engagement on each slide.

91Mobiles, states that since carousel posts already tend to outperform single-image posts in engagement and reach, adding per-slide captions gives creators another lever to keep audiences swiping longer. 

Brands can now use the feature to break down product features slide-by-slide, while influencers can craft multi-part narratives without cluttering a single caption with long paragraphs or numbered lists.

This update follows Instagram’s recent introduction of profile grid rearrangement, which lets users reorganize their profile without deleting content.
