During the emotional trial, the young victim bravely took the stand to recount her ordeal. She testified that the convict, who was her mother’s boyfriend at the time, took advantage of his domestic access to defile her inside her mother’s own bed.
Seeking to conceal his crimes, the accused subjected the child to psychological terror. The victim informed the court that the man threatened her with severe physical harm if she disclosed the abuse to anyone, warning that he would “pour glue into her mouth” to keep her silent.
In the sentencing submissions, the prosecution team, led by Prosecution Counsel Fredrick Rapando and Lilian Mogoi (PPC), heavily urged the court to enforce the strict penalties outlined in the Sexual Offences Act. Counsel Rapando pressed for the mandatory maximum sentence of life imprisonment, emphasizing the gross breach of trust, the vulnerability of the minor, and the chilling nature of the threats used against her.
Concurring fully with the prosecution’s heavy submissions, Hon. Wattimah officially declared the convict a dangerous sexual offender.
Beyond the custodial sentence, the court took strong measures to address the victim’s long-term trauma.
The magistrate directed that the young survivor immediately be accorded comprehensive medical treatment alongside structured psychosocial support services to aid her recovery.
