Former President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President Kithure Kindiki shared light moments during the inauguration ceremony of Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni in Kampala.
The two Kenyan leaders attended the event held at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds on May 12, where Museveni was officially sworn in during a ceremony attended by several African heads of state, senior government officials, diplomats and invited guests from across the continent and beyond.
Photos and videos from the occasion captured Uhuru and Kindiki smiling, laughing and engaging in what appeared to be a cordial conversation as dignitaries gathered ahead of the official proceedings.
Their interaction quickly drew attention online, with many Kenyans commenting on the rare public appearance of the former president alongside members of the current administration.

Kindiki represented President William Ruto at the Kampala event, as Ruto remained in Nairobi to host the Africa Forward Summit.
Uhuru, in the video seen by TNX Africa, hinted at a future meeting with Kindiki, saying, “We will meet. We have a date with you which we have not fulfilled yet.”
A notable moment during Museveni’s inauguration came when dignitaries were officially introduced to the audience.
The announcer acknowledged several heads of state in attendance, including President Samia Suluhu Hassan, President Salva Kiir, President Félix Tshisekedi and President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.
However, the loudest reaction from the crowd came when Uhuru Kenyatta’s name was mentioned among former heads of state, prompting cheers and applause that briefly interrupted the announcement.
