Spotify has confirmed that its services are now fully operational following a major global outage that left thousands of listeners in silence on Tuesday.

The streaming giant issued an “all clear” message after several hours of disruption that affected both mobile and desktop users.

The technical glitch began around midday and saw a massive spike in reports on the tracking website Downdetector.

At the peak of the issues, more than 22,000 users logged complaints, with the majority of problems centred on the mobile app and server connectivity.

In the UK, listeners in London, Manchester, and Glasgow were among the hardest hit.

Many reported that the app displayed them as offline despite having a working internet connection, while others found their playlists simply refused to load.

The timing of the crash was particularly awkward for the company, as it coincided with the launch of a high-profile 20th-anniversary feature.

The “Party of the Year(s)” tool, designed to let users revisit their first-ever streams and all-time hits, was inaccessible for many during the peak of the outage.

Social media was flooded with frustrated comments as the silence stretched on.

One user on X complained that the outage was “causing harm,” while another long-term premium subscriber threatened to jump ship to alternative platforms if the service was not restored by morning.

Spotify initially acknowledged the “issues with the app” via its official status account but remained quiet for several hours while engineers worked on a fix.

No specific cause for the backend failure has been shared by the company.

The service began to stabilise late on Tuesday evening as reported numbers on Downdetector dropped significantly.
