The Governor of Chukwuma Soludo, has approved the appointment of key officials to head major health sector parastatals in the state.
Under the new appointments, Dr. Ezeaka Augustine Uwaeme has been named Executive Secretary of the Anambra State Health Insurance Agency (ASHIA), Dr. Obianuji Chinelo Okoye will serve as Executive Secretary of the Anambra State Primary Health Care Development Agency, while Dr. Hillary Nkem Okeke has been appointed Executive Director of the Anambra State AIDS Control Agency.
Dr. Uwaeme is a seasoned medical practitioner with over 22 years of experience in Medicine and Surgery, with extensive clinical and management expertise. He trained at institutions including Thomas Jefferson University, the Jefferson Ultrasound Radiology and Education Institute in India, the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria, and the University of Ilorin.
Dr. Okoye is an experienced physician with strong administrative and training competencies, as well as broad clinical experience across hospitals and the public health sector. With over 20 years of integrated practice, she holds an MBBS degree from Ebonyi State University, alongside a Master’s degree in Public Health and a Diploma in Family Medicine from the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria. She has also participated in several conferences where she presented papers.
Dr. Okeke, the third appointee, is an award-winning and multi-skilled medical expert, as well as a lecturer known for his research capabilities. His areas of interest include epidemiology, global health management, and community and social care. A member of several professional bodies, he holds an MBBS degree from Nnamdi Azikiwe University and a Master’s degree in Public Health.
The appointments are part of the state government’s efforts to strengthen healthcare delivery and improve institutional capacity across Anambra’s health sector.
