
The infamous Sabina Joy club, faces insolvency over Sh1.4 Million Debt according to reports.
The news has since sparked mixed reactions online, @Nelson Havi, commented “Online deliveries are to blame for the insolvency of Sabina Joy”, @Carpe Omnia, tweeted, “I used to hear so much about Sabina Joy from cats, I went there some years back and the hoes were ugly, it stunk to high hell. I was so appalled, I called my boy and he took me to a real whorehouse in Lower Kabete. The hoes were playing topless basketball”
The owner, Nelson Kibe Njoroge is allegedly demanded to pay Sh1,434,589.90 to KopoKopo Inc. within 21 days.
Failure to pay he will face a bankruptcy petition, after a statutory notice filed February 25, 2026, at Milimani High Court.
The business was built by late billionaire Gerald Gikonyo Kanyuira, and has has long attracted the Nairobi youth and students for cheap drinks, music, and sex work.
The business has since survived constant raids and economic shifts, with people sharing their nostalgic stories and jokes, while they, and pleas to save this cultural icon amid recession fears.
The insolvency of the club comes amid economic hardship experienced globally, in Kenya, the economic turmoil has seen the sudden rise of fuel and hiked fare, though the government via EPRA reduced the fuel price temporarily.
Increasing cost of livelihood has seemingly affected a wide lot by far, with many witnessing collapsed businesses both from small scale to big scale.
Kenyans have since pleaded with the Government to ease the pressure of high cost of living, sparking a potential third wave of the Gen Z protests.
