A dramatic walkout by former nominated Senator Gloria Orwoba during a live radio interview has reignited debate around the Finance Bill 2024, while also reviving unresolved claims involving journalist and columnist Edgar Bwire.
The tense exchange unfolded during a Radio Generation interview where Orwoba had been invited to discuss youth issues and the economy.
The conversation shifted when the host pressed her to clearly state her position on the Finance Bill, which has previously triggered nationwide protests and heated public debate.
Orwoba initially attempted to steer the discussion toward broader policy issues, insisting she preferred wider economic conversations rather than “yes-or-no politics.” The persistent questioning, however, escalated tensions.
GLORIA ORWOBA, STOP BEING HYPOCRITICAL!
I have watched that Hanifa and Gloria Orwoba radio interview, and I have reserved my comments for far too long.

Human rights activist Hanifa weighed in, claiming, “She came to team me and left angrily when asked her what happened to Edgar, and there are videos of her supporting the bill laughing with the MPs making statements together’’.
Orwoba, visibly agitated, demanded an apology from both the host and producer, accusing them of ambushing her with biased and politically loaded questions. She then removed her headset and walked out, abruptly ending the interview.
The fallout continued online, with Orwoba responding to Hanifa on X, writing, ‘’Yes, this is where you belong. Keyboard warrior who cannot substantiate your fake news. You thought you would get away with lying that I supported the finance bill. By the way, tell your followers that you begged me to come to your show and even promised to apologise.”

Journalist Edgar Bwire also resurfaced allegations linked to the 2024 Finance Bill protests, recalling his arrest at Kamukunji Police Station.
He said, ‘’I still remember that day at Kamkunji police station with painful clarity. You came there as the compainainant, after I called you out for supporting the Finance Bill 2024. You looked me in the eyes right there in front of the OCS and other officers and said William Ruto will be re-elected, and I do not need any of your votes in 2027. I will be nominated again’’.
The incident has divided public opinion, with critics accusing Orwoba of dodging accountability, while others argue journalists should avoid confrontational interviewing styles.
