Images of the late Ol Kalou MP David Kiaraho’s home have offered Kenyans a rare, intimate glimpse into the private world of a man who spent his life shaping spaces, away from the murky waters of Kenyan politics.
An acclaimed architect before venturing into politics, Kiaraho appears to have poured his design sensibilities into his own residence, a striking two-storey mansion nestled in Ol Kalou, Nyandarua county, that balances elegance with quiet grandeur.
Photos shared online show a carefully composed structure defined by light-toned walls, a red-tiled roof and a tall, prominent stone chimney rising against the sky.
The house features multiple balconies lined with decorative black railings, while a large vertical glass window draws natural light deep into the interior, a hallmark of modern architectural design.
The exterior spaces mirror the same attention to detail.
A lush, manicured lawn stretches across the front yard, edged with flowering shrubs and trimmed bushes.
A neat stone pathway cuts through the greenery, guiding visitors toward the house, with wide stone steps leading up to a cosy patio fitted with a white umbrella and a small water fountain.
At the centre of the driveway sits a circular garden island filled with grass, blooming plants and small palm trees, adding symmetry to the layout.
Another angle reveals a sheltered porch supported by a tall pillar, topped by a modest balcony that overlooks the grounds.
The surrounding garden bursts with colour, from purple blossoms to bright green hedges, while a stone path with a small archway opens up the landscape beyond, reinforcing the home’s connection to its natural setting.
The images have since sparked conversation online, with many marvelling at the late MP’s professional eye for structure, space and aesthetic harmony.
Kiaraho’s journey into politics, however, was rooted less in personal ambition and more in a sense of duty, according to his widow, Jackie Kiaraho.
Speaking during a requiem service held at the Nyandarua University grounds on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, Jackie described him as a man who chose public service at the height of a successful architectural career.
“When he reached near the apex of his architectural career, he came to me one day and told me that he wanted to venture into politics. I asked him, ‘Why?’ What he said made me give him my full blessing,” she recalled.
According to Jackie, her husband felt a growing discomfort living in comfort while many of his constituents struggled.
“He told me that the Lord had immensely blessed us, and it was about time for us to give back to the people that he had left behind in Ol Kalou,” she said.
The late MP was mourned widely by political leaders as a devoted family man, a distinguished architect, and a visionary leader whose legacy was defined by professional integrity and a steadfast commitment to service over politics.
