The announcement made by the fight’s sponsor himself, Media personality Steve Thompson Maghana alias Oga obinna has been welcomed by netizens online as per the comments and posts shared across various social media platforms,@bettymuteikyallo, commented, “Aaaaaaaaaaaaright!!!!!!!”

Born James Mwangi but popularly known as DJ Afro Amigos, has been arguably a household name in both Kenya and Tanzania, with a fan base that stretches across age groups, due to his witty remarks and comical commentary in movies.
He attained the accolades with his ability of dubbing and narrating international action, kung-fu, and Indian films in Swahili, Sheng, Kikuyu, making foreign content feel Kenyan.
Beyond the confirmed presence of the popular DJ, through Lang’ata MP Jalang’o President Ruto has also joined the band wagon and pledged Sh1 million to each boxer.
The duel has also attracted a number of brands, who are ready to sponsor the match.
The frenzy of unveiling DJ Afro as the fight’s commentator comes daysafter the two amateur boxers got physical during their press conference to promote their much publicised ‘Vurugu’ fight that is scheduled for tomorrow.
As trash talk escalated into a physical brawl it was clear that the fight is no longer just a fight night, but a cultural phenomenon that will blend street hype, high rewards, and raw passion.
The fight, branded as Vurugu Fight Night, will take place this Saturday, April 4th 2026, at the Kasarani Indoor Arena in Nairobi, a venue that holds thousands of fans, with over 2000 fan tickets available for the duel.
