The 98th Academy Awards, popularly known as the Oscars, are set to hold on Sunday (today), with a Nigerian descent among the nominees.

Nigerian-British actress, Wunmi Mosaku, secured a nomination in the Best Supporting Actress category for her role in Sinners.

African-American actors, Michael B. Jordan and Delroy Lindo, both of African descent, were also nominated for their performances in the same film.

Jordan is up for Best Actor, while Lindo is in contention for Best Supporting Actor.

Mosaku joins a star-studded field as Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another and Ryan Coogler’s Sinners emerge as early front-runners for major awards.

The ceremony is set for Sunday, March 15, 2026, with Conan O’Brien returning as host.
