Nigerian socialite Elena Jessica has reportedly died following complications linked to a second Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) procedure, a development that has sparked grief online and raised questions about cosmetic surgery practices in the country.
Her sister, Nelli, confirmed the tragic news on Monday through a post on TikTok, stating that the surgery had been performed at Cynosure Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Hospital. She also accused the medical facility of failing to take responsibility for what happened to her sister.
According to Premium Times Nigeria, Nelli claimed that Jessica had trusted the hospital with her life and expected professional care and safety during the procedure. Instead, she said the family has been left with grief and unanswered questions.
In her emotional post, Nelli criticised the hospital’s response after Jessica’s death, alleging that the clinic appeared more focused on protecting its reputation than addressing the concerns raised by the family and the public. She questioned why the facility had reportedly disabled comments on its social media pages instead of responding to questions surrounding the incident.
“My sister went into Cynosure trusting them with her life. Today she is gone,” Nelli wrote. “Instead of accountability, we are seeing statements that seem aimed at protecting an image. If they are confident in their position, why turn off the comment section instead of addressing the questions people are asking?”
She further argued that transparency and a thorough investigation were necessary to help the family understand what truly happened. According to Premium Times Nigeria, Nelli insisted that silence or denial would not ease the pain of those mourning Jessica and vowed that the family would continue speaking out until the truth is known.
“The world deserves to know what really happened to my sister,” she added. “Her life mattered, and her story will not be buried. Until the truth comes out, we will keep speaking.”
Although the exact date of the surgery has not been officially confirmed, a messages circulating on and attributed to another of Jessica’s sisters alleged that the procedure took place on 6 February. The message claimed Jessica had undergone liposuction followed by fat transfer to her hips, buttocks, and calves.
Meanwhile, Cynosure Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Hospital has denied certain claims circulating online.
In a statement released on Tuesday through its TikTok page, the hospital rejected allegations that a viral video showing a patient screaming during surgery was filmed at its facility.
The clinic clarified that the footage was not recorded at its premises and that it had no information about where the video originated. Management added that the spread of the video was causing additional distress to Jessica’s grieving family.
Despite denying the claims linked to the viral footage, the hospital expressed sympathy to the family, describing the situation as a painful and difficult time. It urged members of the public to approach the matter with compassion and sensitivity while the family mourns their loss.
