A video showing the late Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ng’eno dancing to Kalenjin songs at a rally in Endebes, Trans Nzoia County, has gone viral, sparking reactions across Kenya.
Ng’eno died in a helicopter crash in Mosop, Nandi County, on Saturday, February 28.
In the video seen by TNX Africa, the MP danced and mingled with attendees as Kalenjin songs played.
Posting on Facebook, Ng’eno wrote, “I have just arrived at Kapkugo, Tulwop Kony, Endebes, to join friends, fans, and fellow leaders in celebrating Artist Kim Kim’s remarkable 35th anniversary in the music industry.”
He later boarded helicopter 5Y-DSB with five others. Near Mosop, thick mist and heavy rain limited the pilot’s visibility.

Witnesses said the pilot attempted an emergency landing near Chepkiep Forest, waited briefly, then tried to fly again. The aircraft reportedly wobbled on the second takeoff, crashed into trees, and burst into flames.
Police reports indicate all six passengers on board, including a Kenya Forest Service officer, died when the aircraft hit a tree shortly after takeoff. The plane had been delayed on the ground due to nearby storms.
That Saturday, Ng’eno spent the morning at the Mara River assisting search teams looking for two people whose car was swept away by floods earlier in the week. Social media users praised him for personally leading the effort.
Later, he attended a festival in Endebes celebrating veteran Kalenjin musician Kim Kim.
National leaders have overwhelmingly mourned Ng’eno.
President William Ruto said, “My friend, Mheshimiwa Ng’eno, was a progressive and devoted servant of the people who worked tirelessly on behalf of the residents of Emurua Dikirr, Narok County.”
Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetangula wrote, “On behalf of the Parliamentary Service Commission, the National Assembly and on my own behalf, I convey our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and the people of Emurua Dikirr on this untimely loss that has robbed the nation of an astute leader. Hon. Ng’eno was a fierce leader who strongly defended the people he represented, he also was a dedicated public servant whose commitment to service and development was exemplary.”
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua added, “Hon Ng’eno was my very great friend… He had a great future as the leader of the Kipsigis community and his death has robbed the community of a great leader.”
Social media users reflected on the video. Msema Kweli wrote on X, “Life is short. Let’s live in the moment.” Enoch Otieno added, “And this was on the same day. May his soul rest in peace.”
