A Nairobi man is recovering from severe burns after what was meant to be a Valentine’s Eve celebration turned into a nightmare.

The incident reportedly took place in Umoja One Estate, where the victim, identified only as Steve Godia, says an argument erupted with his girlfriend over suspicions involving an ex-girlfriend.

Moments later, the confrontation allegedly escalated into violence.

Godia claims the woman poured boiling water on him, leaving serious injuries to his face and upper body.

“Maybe she felt I had ignored her as I was going to bed. I was worse than this; my face was swollen. The next morning, my eyes could not see anymore; they were swollen. The wounds were aching, and the pain was very intense,” a defeated Godia told a local TV station.

The suspect reportedly fled the house with his mobile phones and transferred over Sh318,000 from his mobile money account, leaving only a small balance behind.

CCTV footage is said to show her leaving the premises shortly after the attack.

“When I went to replace my sim card, the mini statement showed me she had transferred all the money, and the money was around Sh318,450, so she stole everything and left me with only Sh7,” Godia said, appealing for the arrest of his jilted lover whilst demanding justice.

He is now receiving treatment at a Nairobi hospital, where doctors are monitoring his condition closely.

Godia has since made a passionate appeal for financial support as bills continue piling up following his admission.

Police have launched investigations into the case while the suspect remains at large.
