Prominent businesswoman and former Nominated Senator Millicent Omanga has once again publicly distanced herself from the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA), reaffirming her support for the Linda Mwananchi cohort.

In a striking social media post, Omanga declared, “Change is inevitable,” alongside a poster promoting the cohort’s upcoming rally in Kakamega.

The announcement comes as Omanga prepares to run again for the Nairobi County Woman Representative seat, an office she came agonisingly close to winning in the previous general election.

Recently, she has shown keen interest in the “Linda Mwananchi” tour, spearheaded by embattled ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna.

The rallies have drawn massive crowds of Kenyans rallying behind Sifuna and allies such as Siaya Governor James Orengo, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi, Saboti MP Caleb Amisi, and Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka.

Impressed by the huge turnouts at the recently viral Kitengela rally, Omanga hinted at robust public momentum to limit President Ruto to a single term.

“No fear, no retreat… Revolution is mandatory. Kasongo should keep pushing like in Kitengela—pure power,” she posted enthusiastically, underscoring her alignment with the opposition’s anti-incumbency drive.

Omanga has previously thrown her weight behind prominent opposition figures, including Rigathi Gachagua of the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP), Jubilee’s Fred Matiang’i, and Wiper Party chief Kalonzo Musyoka.

Speaking at a packed traditional dowry event in the company of Gachagua weeks ago, she expressed deep gratitude to the Mt. Kenya community for their overwhelming support in 2022, when they delivered over 600,000 votes in her favour in Nairobi.

“I fell short by just a small margin last time, but I’m contesting again in 2027,” she affirmed, crediting their loyalty as a key motivator.

It remains to be seen what her sentiments will be during the much-publicised rally expected to form the base for the Linda Mwananchi cohort in Western Kenya.
